Overview

BBI - The Australian Institute of Theological Education is one of the largest Catholic providers of online theological education in the Asia-Pacific region. Online delivery enables the Institute to reach students in a variety of locations, including remote areas across Australia and abroad.

BBI is accredited as a Higher Education Provider (HEP) by the Tertiary Education Quality Standards Agency (TEQSA) – Australia's independent national regulator of the higher education sector.

In its capacity as a HEP, BBI is accredited to confer higher education degrees which are recognised as meeting national higher education standards and are benchmarked with universities, colleges and other tertiary institutions throughout the country. HEP accreditation has been granted for seven years, the maximum time awarded by TEQSA to educators providing the highest quality degrees.

BBI aims to cater to a wide range of people interested in Theology and its aligned disciplines by providing the highest quality of online education at both academic and non-academic levels.

By partnering with multiple Universities and Colleges across Australia and internationally, BBI aims to improve job opportunities for its students. Our academic programs are delivered in partnership with the University of Newcastle, Sydney College of Divinity, University of Tasmania, University of Wollongong and Saint Paul University, Ottawa.

We also offer a range of non-academic short courses for professional development, adult faith formation, eConferences with leading educators from around the world and an annual international speaker series of seminars with visiting professors.

In addition to our courses, we offer multi-media products and books. Vaughan Publishing is the Institute’s joint imprint with Garratt Publishing, through which the highly regarded Mission & Education series has been published. New books are scheduled to be launched and current books are available for purchase online. The acclaimed eConferences are available on DVD and can be purchased on this website.

BBI is a member of the Forum of Australian Catholic Institutes of Theology (FACIT) and the Australian New Zealand Association of Theological Schools (ANZATS).
