Enabling Faith Education
BBI reaches out to people through its all encompassing approach to adult education. This includes its academic programs and adult faith education for parishes and other groups.
BBI works within a faith context so that all of our programs and courses will lead students to a deeper faith in Jesus.
About BBI
You have come to a unique place. The Broken Bay Institute (BBI) provides the largest offering of distance programs in Spirituality and Theology in Australia, as well as a varied range of face-to-face intensives throughout the academic year.
The Broken Bay Institute recognises that spirituality, theology and life are deeply connected and that adults learn over the continuum of their life’s journey. Therefore BBI responds to the faith education and ministry formation needs of individuals, parishes, schools and ministry groups within the local Church.
The Broken Bay Institute is committed to living out the spirit of Vatican II as embraced in the vision of the Diocese of Broken Bay (NSW). Our Diocese is committed to quality Catholic adult faith formation and education, within and beyond its boundaries.
The Broken Bay Institute is a member institute of the Sydney College of Divinity. The College has thirteen affiliated member institutions located on eighteen different sites in New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. One of the central aims of the College is “to encourage theological scholarship which is ecumenically sensitive and relevant to issues of culture and society in Australia and Oceania.”
The Broken Bay Institute is strategically placed at Pennant Hills (northern Sydney). Students from metropolitan Sydney as well as the Central Coast have immediate access to our services and resources. The flexible delivery of distance learning units, along with regular intensives, offers a creative form of course timetabling for busy, committed people. As well as catering for students in major capital cities, BBI reaches out to students in regional, rural and remote areas, both across Australia and abroad.
The Broken Bay Institute is a member of the Australian New Zealand Association of Theological Schools (ANZATS).
