Partnerships
The Broken Bay Institute (BBI) enjoys partnerships with several key institutions, within and beyond Australia.
ACU National
In 2004, BBI and ACU National reached agreement on cross-crediting of course units in the Bachelor of Theology degree and Master of Arts degree from BBI with the Bachelor of Theology and Master of Arts (Theology) degrees at ACU National. There is also the possibility of other cross-crediting of course units between the two institutions on a case by case basis.
Australian Council for Natural Family Planning Inc (ACNFP)
ACNFP is Australia’s leading authority for the Sympto-thermal Method of Natural Family Planning. In 2006, BBI and ACNFP launched a four unit program of studies in Sexuality and Natural Family Planning as well as achieving SCD accreditation for ACNFP’s highly praised training program for educators.
Benedictine Study and Arts Centre (BSAC), London
At the request of the Benedictine Study and Arts Centre (BSAC) in London, their students are enrolled with BBI in SCD degree programs. Through the BSAC there are students studying with BBI from continental Europe and African nations such as Nigeria and Cameroon.
Catholic Schools Offices and Catholic School Leadership
BBI continues to work closely with Catholic Schools/Education Offices in the provision of accredited theological course units. BBI is in close collaboration with many Catholic Schools/Education Offices in planning programs of graduate study for their teachers and leaders. We also provide customised spirituality and ministry formation programs (non award) for individual schools and educational communities.
Centre for Christian Spirituality, Randwick
BBI has maintained its historical connection with The Randwick Centre for Christian Spirituality. The Centre has for many years run the very successful “Ministry for Teachers” program. The Ministry for Teachers programs are accredited through SCD.
Chevalier Institute
The Chevalier Institute is a ministry of the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart. In conjunction with the Institute BBI offers a unit of study in the Spirituality of the Heart.
Sisters of St Joseph
In 2004 BBI established a close relationship with the Sisters of Saint Joseph Congregation. This has led to a new course unit offering, “Mary MacKillop: A Contemporary Study in Spirituality”.
A second exciting development with the Sisters of Saint Joseph has been the accreditation of the outstanding three-week residential Cross-Cultural Ministry program offered in January each year, at Baulkham Hills (Sydney), NSW.
Sydney Centre for Religious Development
Through BBI, the Sydney Centre for Religious Development has gained SCD accreditation for its spiritual direction programs and academic staff. The programs of the Centre are offered in face-to-face mode over a period of two years.
Sydney College of Divinity Member Institutes
BBI continues to work closely with Member Institutes of the Sydney College of Divinity. BBI students are able to register for course units with other SCD Member Institutes and have these units credited.
University of Notre Dame Australia (UNDA)
BBI is working closely with UNDA to enable students from both colleges to have course units cross-credited.
Urban Ministry Movement
In 2003 BBI began exploring a partnership with the Mercy Foundation’s Urban Ministry Program. The educational work of the Mercy Foundation is specifically focused on transformation. Since 1991 the Urban Ministry Movement (Sydney) has offered introductory, basic and advanced courses in urban ministry formation, as well as training in pastoral supervision. In 2004, in partnership with BBI, the Graduate Diploma/Master of Arts in Pastoral Practice were accredited through the Sydney College of Divinity. 2005 saw the first enrolments in this exciting new course offering within Australia.
Other Higher Learning Institutions
