Philosophy of Education
To fulfil its unique educational mission, BBI implements a philosophy of open learning. It incorporates quality instructional materials, one-to-one tutoring by telephone or email, small group tutoring, and the latest in educational technology.
In addition to distance learning units, BBI offers face-to-face learning opportunities throughout the year. Many of these optional seminars are scheduled in conjunction with school vacations in summer, Easter, winter and spring. The seminars are usually conducted over a two - four day period leaving the student to pursue reading and complete assignments over an 15 week period. Seminars enable students from near and far to engage in a dynamic learning experience together.
Though we are a College without boundaries, BBI is committed to nurturing supportive relationships, fostering interaction and maintaining good communication with its students.
Open learning refers to accessibility. Our courses are open to adults of any age and background. Open learning at BBI means that anyone interested in pursuing a theological course of study at degree level is encouraged to apply.
Open and distance learning has the advantage of great flexibility. Students monitor their own timetable of study. BBI staff advise on the best approaches to study, and how to gain maximum benefit from this particular learning mode. BBI offers two semesters (March and August) and a Summer term (November) each year. For our students in the southern hemisphere the November enrolment date allows students to pursue additional studies over the Summer vacation.
