Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies

Overview

This graduate course is designed for those who hold a three-year bachelor award in any discipline but have done no previous study in Theology and Scripture. It comprises four course units (two core and two electives).

Admission Requirements

A prior recognised three-year degree or equivalent in any discipline.

Program Structure

Four course units (36 credit points) comprising two core course units (18 credit points) BRG400 Introduction to Biblical Studies and TRG400 Introduction to Theological Studies and two elective course units (18 credit points) from the list of assignable units.

When a student choses to focus on a specific area of study the elective units will be taken from that area of study.

  • Credit for prior graduate studies, equivalent to the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies, may be given up to the maximum 36 credit points.

For a Biblical Studies specialisation:

  • BRG400 - Introduction to Biblical Studies
  • TRG400 - Introduction to Theological Studies
  • BRG406 - Studies in the Old Testament
  • BRG408 - Studies in the New Testament

For a Pastoral Practice specialisation:

Prescribed course units:

  • BRG400 - Introduction to Biblical Studies
  • TRG400 - Introduction to Theological Studies
  • PRG515 - Transformative Pastoral Practice in Context [18cp]

For a Christian Spirituality specialisation:

Prescribed course units:

  • BRG400 - Introduction to Biblical Studies
  • TRG400 - Introduction to Theological Studies
  • SRG400 - Introduction to Spirituality
