Graduate Diploma in Arts
Overview
This postgraduate course is designed for students who hold a three year bachelor award or higher in any discipline but have done no previous study in Theology and Scripture. It comprises eight course units (four core and four elective). Students who enrol in the Graduate Diploma in Arts award may exit with the Graduate Certificate in Arts provided they have met the requirements of this award.
Admission Requirements
A prior recognised three-year degree or equivalent in any discipline.
Program Structure
Eight course units comprising four core course units (36 credit points) and four elective units (36 credit points) chosen from the list of assignable units. When a student chooses to focus on a specific area of study some elective units will be taken from that area of study.
For a Biblical Studies specialisation
Building on the Grad Cert units for the Biblical Studies specialisation-
Prescribed course units:
- BRG400 - Introduction to Biblical Studies
- TRG400 - Introduction to Theological Studies
- BRG406 - Studies in the Old Testament
- BRG408 - Studies in the New Testament
- BRG410 - The Four Gospels
+ Three course units from the list of assignable units with at least two from Biblical Studies or Biblical languages at G400/500 levels.
For a Christian Spirituality specialisation
Building on the Grad Cert units for the Christian Spirituality specialisation-
Prescribed course units:
- BRG408 - Studies in New Testament
- SRG405 - Formative Spirituality
- SRG410 - History of Christian Spirituality
+ One elective course unit from the list of assignable Spirituality units at G400/500 levels.
For a Pastoral Practice specialisation
Building on the Grad Cert units for the Pastoral Practice specialisation-
Prescribed course units:
- BRG400 - Introduction to Biblical Studies
- TRG400 - Introduction to Theological Studies
- PRG460 - Spirituality of Pastoral Care
- PRG405 - Theological Reflection in Context
- PRG515 - Transformative Pastoral Practice in Context [18 cp]
+ Two elective course units from the list of assignable units at G400/500 levels.
For a Theology specialisation
