Postgraduate Programs

BBI is part of the Sydney College of Divinity (SCD), which is comprised of theological colleges from a wide variety of denominations, each with their distinctive curricula and ethos.  SCD is able to offer a wide variety of postgraduate programs both in research mode and through course work. 

BBI has a particular focus on providing for many students who already have a degree in another area and who wish to study theology for professional and/or personal reasons. The Graduate Certificate in Arts and the Graduate Diploma in Arts and Master of Arts degree are designed for those who hold a three-year bachelor qualification in any discipline and wish to pursue a graduate qualification in theology. 

Students within these programs may wish to focus on particular areas of specialisation within theology and its related disciplines.  For this reason BBI offers guidelines for specialisations in Biblical Studies, Church History, Christian Spirituality, Missiology, Pastoral Practice, Philosophy as well as in Theology.

The Master of Divinity is the primary and comprehensive graduate degree in theology and the basis for further graduate study to the highest levels.  Majors are available and the BBI offers guidelines in the formation of majors and sub-majors.

The Master of Theology can be completed through course-work, two course units may be a Research Essay of 10,000-12,000 words. BBI offers specialisations in the areas of Biblical Studies, Christian Spirituality and Theology.
