Studies of Religion

Unit overview and content

This unit is designed to provide advanced understanding of the belief, story and ritual structures of major world religions and Australian Indigenous religion.  This unit acknowledges religion as a distinctive answer to the human need for meaning in life, and affirms that there are many ways of studying and living out religion. It recognises and appreciates the significance of the role of religion in society and/ in particular, within Australian society.

Study hours

10 hours per week for 12 week semester, comprised of:

  • At least one hour per week for online lectures.
  • At least three hours per week of reading.
  • At least six hours per week of directed study, including optional and assessable online activities.

Teaching methods

Online lectures; online activities; guided reading; scaffolded assessments; feedback on assessments.
