Rev Prof Gerald O’Collins, SJ, AC

Adjunct professor, ACU, and Honorary Research Fellow of the MCD University of Divinity

Gerald OCollinsA graduate of the University of Melbourne (BA and MA), ordained a priest in the Jesuit Order in 1963, and obtaining a PhD from Cambridge University in 1968, Fr O’Collins took up a professorship at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome, in 1974, where he taught for 32 years.

He has been a visiting professor at numerous colleges and universities around the world and has received honorary doctorates from six institutions. He is author or co-author of over sixty books and his works have been translated into French, Italian, Korean, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and a number of other languages.

In 2006, he was made a Companion of the General Division of the Order of Australia (AC), in recognition of his outstanding commitment to theological scholarship and ecumenical initiatives.

Fr O’Collins is currently an Honorary Research Fellow of MCD University of Divinity, and Adjunct Professor, Australian Catholic University.
