The Pentateuch

In The Pentateuch, we will explore the foundational books of the Bible and the role they play in shaping Christian faith. What do these ancient texts reveal about God, creation, covenant and the origins of Israel? How should we approach questions of authorship, genre and historical context in the classroom? How do we help pupils engage thoughtfully with these narratives and understand their significance for Christian belief today?

This unit is designed to introduce you to key issues surrounding the interpretation, formation and theological themes of the Pentateuch, with particular attention to Catholic scholarship. Where relevant, we will consider insights from other traditions.
