Entry pathways – Master of Theological Studies

  • Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline from an approved tertiary education institution will complete the full 16 unit Master of Theological Studies course.
  • Students may enter the Master of Theological Studies directly, or enter the nested BBI Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies or Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies. In both cases, students will receive full credit for the units they completed within the previous qualification in accordance with the Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy (for example, students who have completed the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies, which is 4 units in length, would receive credit for these units and then complete the Master of Theological Studies through 12 units of study).
  • Students who have completed prior studies in the area of theology may be eligible for credit in one of two ways.
    • If these studies were at the same AQF level as this course, credit will be considered according to the Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning policy.
    • If the student holds an AQF Level 7 Degree in Theology or a cognate area or an AQF Level 8 Degree on Theology or a cognate area they will be eligible for 40 units of Unspecified Academic Credit. This will reduce their volume of learning to 12 units, or 1 and a half years full-time, in accordance with the Australian Qualification Framework requirements and the Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.
