Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies

Graduates can deepen their knowledge of theological studies, enhancing their work in parish ministry, health or welfare.

Have you recently started work in a Catholic school, parish, health or welfare agency and want to strengthen your practical understanding of the mission and identity of a Catholic institution? 

This course could be your pathway into exploring these deeper questions to help guide your everyday work such as the role of religion in the world.  You may also find this course helps fulfil your professional accreditation requirements in Catholic agencies.

Through this course, graduates can apply knowledge of theological studies directly to their work and career enhancement. If you already have a degree in any field, you are eligible to apply. The course features a broad range of electives tailored to suit your individual interests including Ministry in the Church, Justice and Peace: Catholic Social Teaching and Sacramental Theology.

Course Length 0.5 years full-time, or part-time equivalent, amounting to 40 credit points.

Admission Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in any discipline from an approved tertiary education institution.
  • English-language proficiency. 
 

Entry pathways

  • Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline may enter the Graduate Certification in Theological Studies.
  • Students who have completed prior studies in the area of theology may be eligible for credit.
  • If these studies were at the same AQF level as this course, credit will be considered according to the Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning policy.

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning

  • Up to 20 units of credit are available in this course in accordance with the Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.
  • No RPL is available in this course.
