Graduate Diploma in Theological Studies

This course will help guide you if you have begun pondering questions around faith and life but also are looking for specialised knowledge within the discipline of theological studies.

This course is designed specifically for those who aspire to move into leadership positions with Catholic institutions. The course applies contemporary theological thinking and concepts (Theology Connected) to the ‘everyday’ Australian context. You may also choose electives based on a range of specialised contexts, such as parish or youth ministry, health, education or leadership.

The course features a broad range of core and elective subjects tailored to meet your individual interests including Theological Studies: Themes, Thinkers and Methods and Story and Theology in the Gospels.

Course Length

1 year full-time, or part-time equivalent, amounting to 80 credit points.

Admission Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in any discipline from an approved tertiary education institution.
  • English-language proficiency.

Entry Pathways

  • Students who have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline may enter the Graduate Certification in Theological Studies.
  • Students who have completed prior studies in the area of theology may be eligible for credit.
  • If these studies were at the same AQF level as this course, credit will be considered according to the Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning policy.

Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning

  • Up to 40 units of credit are available in this course in accordance with the Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning Policy.
  • No RPL is available in this course.
